At the end of May, the National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT) published the BR-381/MG Concession Tender Notice (Concession Notice No. 01/2024), whose object is the operation, for 30 years, of the infrastructure and the provision of public services on the Highway System comprising 304 km of roads on the stretch between Belo Horizonte and Governador Valadares.

The auction, whose award criterion is the largest discount on the basic toll tariff, is scheduled for August 29 at B3’s headquarters in São Paulo.

Under the Tender Notice, Brazilian or foreign legal entities, supplementary pension entities and investment funds are eligible to take part in the tender and, individually or in a consortium, must invest about BRL 9 billion in improvements including widening stretches and building additional lanes, service roads, pedestrian bridges and wildlife crossings.

After reviewing the concession project, ANTT removed some obligations initially assigned to the Concessionaire, allocating the commitment to expand capacity and make improvements between km 427 and 458.4 to the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), which will supervise the works under an integrated contracting regime, whose Tender Notice is open until 08/02/2024.

According to the public hearings held before the Tender Notice was published, the Concession has the potential to generate about 73,000 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to economic growth and job creation in the Minas Gerais region.
